Esther

My sister and I were in nursery today and we taught on

Queen Esther.

For those of you who are not familiar with the story, neither was I. My knowledge extending no further than the VeggieTales movie (see below)

Basically... the Cliff Notes version is a Jewish girl named Esther was adopted by her cousin < Mordechai > and forced to marry a King. While this king had a "right hand man" named Haman, he also had some pretty weird principles. For instance, no one was allowed to see him unless he raised his scepter. If you dared to approach him without his scepter raised, you were
INSTANTLY SENT TO DEATH!

Haman came up with a plan to have all the Jews in the land killed.
Mordechai warned Esther and told her to do something about it. So she prayed and courageously went up to the king. After he raised his scepter, she invited him and Haman to 2 feasts. The king was so impressed he offered her WHATEVER she wanted! Up to 1/2 of his kingdom!! Esther told the king that someone was planning on killing her and her people and demanded to know who. After discovering it was Haman, the king had him hanged and posted a new law that ALL JEWS would be PROTECTED.

--> The Big Picture Question/Point was that God uses ORDINARY people to carry out His plans and we CANNOT let fear take over.
